uustat Command

The uustat command in Linux is used to display the status of files that have been transferred using the Unix-to-Unix Copy Protocol (UUCP). UUCP is a protocol that was historically used to transfer files between Unix systems over dial-up telephone lines. uustat command can show the state of files that are in the queue waiting to be sent or received, or files that have already been sent or received.

To display the status of all files in the UUCP queue, you can use the command uustat
To display the status of a specific file in the UUCP queue, you can specify the file name as an argument, like this: uustat file.txt
To display the status of all files that have been sent or received by a specific system, you can use the -s option, like this: uustat -s remote-system

It is important to note that uustat requires the uucico daemon to be running on the local system in order to work properly. Also, the uustat command is less used these days and there are other file transfer protocols like SCP and SFTP that provide more security and encryption options.

Example :

$ uustat

This command will display the status of all files in the UUCP queue.

$ uustat -s remote-system

This command will display the status of all files that have been sent or received by the system “remote-system”

$ uustat file.txt

This command will display the status of the specific file “file.txt” in the UUCP queue.
