The stress
command in Linux is used to put a specified amount of stress on the system. It can be used to test the stability and performance of a system under heavy loads, and to simulate different types of system failures.

- Stress the CPU for 60 seconds:
stress --cpu 4 --timeout 60s
- Stress the memory for 120 seconds:
stress --vm 2 --timeout 120s
- Stress the I/O for 30 seconds:

- Stress all system resources for 300 seconds:
stress --cpu 2 --vm 2 --io 2 --timeout 300s
In the first example, the --cpu 4
option is used to put stress on the CPU by running 4 processes that consume 100% of the CPU time. The --timeout 60s
option is used to stop the stress test after 60 seconds.
In the second example, the --vm 2
option is used to put stress on the memory by allocating 2GB of memory. The --timeout 120s
option is used to stop the stress test after 120 seconds.
In the third example, the --io 2
option is used to put stress on the I/O by running 2 processes that perform random I/O operations. The --timeout 30s
option is used to stop the stress test after 30 seconds.
In the fourth example, the --cpu 2

options are used to put stress on all system resources. The --timeout 300s
option is used to stop the stress test after 300 seconds.
