If you wish to crack the coding interview, mastery of the core basics of coding (html, CSS and JavaScript) is necessary, to get those first few jobs. As you progress, diversify, and learn more coding languages, you will naturally find it easier, answering complex coding questions, as your brain, gets used to thinking like a programmer.

Below, I list some of the basics tips to aid you in, cracking the coding interview.

1. Know Yourself: Are You a Lion or a Goat?

Many people, are entering programming to make money right?

But what many aspiring developers, don’t realize is that they already have the skills to pay the bills.

Becoming a web developer now, can be likened to becoming a doctor; everybody wants to get in, and make those big bucks.

But the problem is that, the market is saturated. In fact, GitHub, has over 65 million registered programmers. I am sure only about 0.000005% of that number, is employed in a lucrative, high paying job.

As such, you as a new programmer, has to stand out from this huge crowd of people.

now face, is that we have many people, who jump in on the train wargon, only to get the cash, forgetting the fact, that most people who have a programming mind, are nerds.

Personally, I feel nerds are ahead of the time, and I will explain.

For example, some few years ago, nerds loved reading comic books, and anime, but they were ostracized for their taste of entertainment.

But fast forward to present day, and many people swear to love the avenger movies, forgetting the fact that they are newbies in this game.

Regardless, if your motives for becoming a web developer, is monitary based, I will advise you to turn your portfolios, into a blog, that can bring in recurring revenue to you.

With money in your pockets, you will now have more freedom, to chase your dreams of becoming a qualified web developer.

Aside senior web developers, who are paid high salaries.

2. Know the Job

It’s always a good idea to thoroughly research the job before an interview. This will help you understand the responsibilities of the position, the company culture, and the expectations for the role. Here are some steps you can take to prepare for an interview:

  1. Review the job posting and make a list of the required skills and qualifications.
  2. Research the company and its industry. This can include looking at their website, reading news articles about them, and looking at their social media profiles.
  3. Consider how your skills and experiences align with the job requirements.
  4. Prepare answers to common interview questions, such as “Tell me about yourself,” “Why do you want to work for our company,” and “What are your strengths and weaknesses?”
  5. Think of specific examples and accomplishments that demonstrate your fit for the role.

3. Master Core Basics

You want to get hired as a developer. You are not trying to become a developer. There is a difference between somebody trying, and somebody who is.

As such you must have mastery over the basics of programming (coding), which are html, CSS and JavaScript, because few or even no person, will hire you, if you are not versed, in this basics.

HTML (HyperText Markup Language) is a markup language used to structure and present content on the World Wide Web. HTML is the standard markup language for creating web pages, and it allows you to specify how text, images, and other content should be displayed in a web browser.
